Dorset and Beyond was a perfect choice for us! Our ship was to dock in Portland and my husband and I had decided that we wanted to see Stonehenge while we were in port. Mike met us at our dock and whisked us away for a day of adventure. Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, lunch, the boardwalk in Weymouth and the beautiful coastal view and the Olympic rings above Portland. It was a very enjoyable day and even the weather complied! Mike looked after us all day and made sure that we were able to see everything that we’d wanted to. We enjoyed his company and the conversations that we shared. He made our day enjoyable and he watched the time so as to make sure that we returned to our ship on time. Don’t hesitate booking with Dorset and Beyond. You’ll be glad that you did!

We highly recommend Dorset and Beyond Transportation and Gary to anyone visiting Portland. We arrived in Portland on the SilverSea Silver Dawn. Though excursions are included with SilverSea, we choose to have Dorset and Beyond show us around instead. What a great choice! Gary picked us up right from the ships dock and he did a great job taking us around. Having our own guide, instead of going with a group, was wonderful and worth every penny. We could visit what we were interested in and vary plans based on the weather or our energy level. We first visited Corfe Castle, a 1000 year old fortification with an amazing history. The town of Corfe itself is worth a look. Then we visited a more “recent” site, Lulworth Castle, only 450 years old. It was destroyed in a fire in 1929, but has been restored and now serves as a very well done museum. We enjoyed both of these castles. After the two castles, we enjoyed some natural scenery, visiting Lulworth Cove with its beautiful sea arch, Stair Hole, and a stunning bay. We booked the tour to Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral several weeks out from actual arrival. Gary was great in all aspects of the organization, including telling us which time slots to purchase Stonehenge tickets for and where to buy them. Our ship arrived in port early so Gary contacted us and offered to start our tour early which suited our group perfectly. He accommodated special requests on the fly, like bathroom breaks, lunch in a pub and finding an ATM. It was a perfect day! Thanks, Gary, and next time we’ll bring maple cookies!

We used this port excursion in Portland, England on our cruise on Norwegian Dawn on Aug. 28, 2025. Gary was awesome! It was very easy to book this trip. He kept in touch with me. He was right at the port ready to go when we got off. He was very witty and knowledgable. Gary took us to Stonehenge(incredible experience), Salisbury (to see the famous Salisbury Cathedral), we explored the city, went to some very unique Pubs, showed us the Olympic site of where the 2012 Olympic sailing took place, horse chalk drawing on the side of a mountain, etc! We booked our private tour with Gary out of Portland, UK. From the very beginning of booking Gary was fantastic. Called me to touch base at the time of booking weeks before our tour – just to add a personal touch. He was exactly where he said he’d be when he said he’d be. His van was pristine (until we left him – sorry about that Gary)! The tour itself was wonderful. Very relaxed and at our leisure but on time for everything. Had a wonderful experience with Dorset and Beyond Transportation on our visit to the Portland, UK area. Gary our driver picked us up at the gangway (Silversea Silver Shadow) and drove us to the Bovington Tank Museum, as well as making a few local stops such as Lulworth Cove, Dursley Door, and the 2012 Olympic monument. Highly recommended!

Had a great experience with Dorset & Beyond! Our driver, Gary, picked us up right on time at the gangway of the Regal Princess for transport to Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. The vehicle was new / clean and Gary whisked us away with some pleasant chatter. The thing we really liked was that the tour was on our schedule – no waiting for the hoard of masses or being told how long we had to stay at Stonehenge, the cathedral or lunch. Back to the ship in plenty of time; dropped at the gangway. It was much less expensive than the ship tour, too! Highly recommended!

Our day with Jonathan was exactly what we were hoping for. The pick up at the Port was simple and timely. We arrived at Stonehenge early enough to avoid long queues. The advice to pre- purchase the Stonehenge tickets worked well. Jonathan also gave great advice to use the shuttle buses. Saved a lot of walking! The stops in Salisbury and Weymouth on our return to the ship were an added bonus. Jonathan’s choice of Bennet’s fish and chips in Weymouth was perfect.

On our Princess Cruise on the Regal, we were transported to Stonehenge, Salisbury, Weymouth, and Portland, by Gary, before returning to our ship. Gary was extremely pleasant and helpful. He made suggestions regarding local attractions, which were all excellent. In addition to Stonehenge, we went to Salisbury Cathedral, Weymouth Harbour, and the Olympic rings in Portland, with a great view of the city. We highly recommend Dorset & Beyond for touring needs.

This review is late but I had to share about our amazing experience. Our vacation started so stressful with a missed flight and then the cruise missing the first port. Gary and Dorset & Beyond Transportation saved the day! We were able to see Stonehenge and catch the cruise a little late with tremendous service, a comfortable car, and knowledgeable recommendations! We originally booked a private car to take us from the Portland port to Stonehenge and back for an excursion. When we missed our flight to London and transfer to the ship, I contacted Gary and he said the driver could pick us up at Heathrow, drive us to Stonehenge, and then to Portland to pick up the cruise. Gary was the first one to tell us the Regal Princess was not stopping in Portland. We communicated through WhatsApp about the changes to our schedule. He ended up meeting us at Heathrow and taking us to Stonehenge and then Salisbury Cathedral. He helped us brainstorm how to catch the cruise the next day in Falmouth. Gary, and his team, provided a wonderful experience on our recent cruise stop in Portland England on the Norwegian Getaway. So glad to have contacted Dorset and Beyond as we got to explore the countryside and coastline unlike those who had to wait a in long line to take the shuttle into Weymouth. Gary responded quickly to emails and was more than willing to help us set up a great excursion.

Had an excellent tour with Gary from Dorset and Beyond Transportation. I highly recommend their tours if visiting Portland, Gary quickly responded to all my emails, showed up early at the cruise port, NCL Getaway for our tour party of 8 and the vehicle was new and very comfortable. He is a very knowledgeable interactive and fun guide and I couldn’t believe how much he was able to fit in the short amount of time we had to visit and without feeling rushed.

Gary provided us with a wonderful day visiting Stonehenge, Salisbury and Weymouth. We arrived in Portland as our final stop on a 10 day cruise. Gary met us right at the gangway. His car was clean and comfortable. He was very accommodating with where we wanted to go and the amount of time we wished to spend at each stop. We were able to stay ahead of the bus crowds and move at our own pace. He also made some great suggestions as far as pubs. I would strongly recommend Gary and Dorset&Beyond!

On a recent shore excursion during a cruise around the British Isles we had the pleasure of having Gary chauffeur our group of eight along the beautiful Dorset coast. He tailored our excursion to both what we wanted to see and within the time frame we needed. Our van was comfortable and Gary was extremely accommodating. All in all a wonderful experience. Fabulous Drive to Stonehenge from Portland. We were on Oceania Vista and Gary was a terrific guide for our day in the country. We drove through Dorset to Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. Stopped along the way at Thomas Hardy’s Cottage and drove around Weymouth. Great day, great alternative to an organized tour bus ride!

During our recent Oceania “Marina” Cruise, we chose to do a tour to Stonehenge and the Salisbury Cathedral with Dorset & Beyond. Our guide was Sally and she was wonderful. She picked us up at the cruise port and then we drove to Stonehenge. Along the way, she provided a wealth of historical and cultural information that made the trip so much more meaningful. From Stonehenge we went to Salisbury Cathedral as was suggested by Gary at Dorset & Beyond. We are so glad we did. It was incredible and truly the highlight of many fabulous attractions we visited during our cruise.

Gary was our guide for a tour of Portland and area from our cruise stop – 5 of us from teenagers to my elderly mother. He was terrific at not only taking us to the specified sites, but fit in some additional stops that he thought we’d enjoy in the area and he was extremely accommodating for each individual in our party. Fabulous service and I’d use him again for transportation and a guide. Thanks Gary!!

We had a fabulous day with Gary showing us the sites in Portland, Weymouth, and Lyme Regis topped off with a delicious lunch in a local eatery on the water. Gary was knowledgeable and amenable to anything we wanted to see that day.

I booked a private shore excursion with Dorset and Beyond from Portland – we were on a British Isles cruise on Regal Princess – and found Gary to be extremely helpful and accommodating from the start. Gary’s company is very enjoyable, and we all felt quite at ease and pampered – he even made a call from the road to check if Rossi’s ice creams in Weymouth had an ice cream I really wanted to try! We booked these guys for a trip to Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral with numerous other stops on route on the way back. We arrived in Portland Port with Holland America cruise line, we saw a lot more than our friends who went through the cruise ship. Relax happy time with a funny driver. No rushing, easy booking through there website and a very good price cheaper than the ship. Highly recommend.

We sailed in on the HAL Zuiderdam and meet Gary in Waymouth. He went above and beyond to show us all the agreed locations – Stonehedge and Salisbury Cathedral, but also stopped at a small church on the way which had lovely flowers blooming for a great picture! I have given this taxi service 5 stars, but I would have easily given 10/10. I used Dorset and Beyond transportation from Heathrow airport to my home address in Dorset. Having just returned from a long business trip away all I wanted was to get home, in a safe, reliable manner. That is exactly what I received, but add professional, friendly and reliable to the equation. I will definitely use this company again, and would happily recommend them to anyone.
